Collection: Bar Soap Collection
Welcome to Southern Resident Soapery!
Thank you for browsing the bar soap collection. You might wonder why I focus on bar soaps to support the Southern Resident Orcas. Here’s why:
Bar soaps are practical and sustainable. Unlike body wash (which I would still love to formulate and sell one day - I hear those of you that would really like it!) bar soaps don’t require a plastic bottle and you’re not paying for water—just pure soap. They’re economical and eco-friendly, which I think is a perfect combination.
We all use soap regularly, and have to buy it again every few months. It’s a small, enjoyable part of most routines - to me that has all kinds of potential just like all our small habits do.. So I felt soap was a great vessel to bring on a smile, or to remind ourselves of a cause or season.
I make my soap to reflect the my local region! I use Olympia’s Artesian Well Water and pull inspiration for scents and designs from Washington.. it feels more authentic and I want to make authentic quality products.. I use a blend of six or so high quality oils, too. The bar soaps offer up a lot of lather and are long lasting.
As a soapmaker, I enjoy the process and experimenting with different scents. I love watching the transformation from liquid to bar.. the fluid dynamics are fun to play with and I love the fragrances throughout the process. While soapmaking is both an art and a science it's relatively easy and rather forgiving. I encourage you to try it, too!
